Spiced Crabapples

| Ingredients: |

1 qt. vinegar |
|
3 c. water |
| |
4 c. sugar |
|
1 tbsp. allspice |
| |
1 tbsp. cinnamon |
|
1 tbsp. cloves |
| |
1 tbsp. mace |
|
5 pt. crabapples |
|
|

| Preparation: |
|
Tie all spices together loosely in a cheese cloth bag. Heat the syrup ingredients together and let cool. |
Choose 5 pints round crabapples, uniform in size. Wash and drain. Add crabapples and heat slowly so as not to burst the fruit. Let stand in syrup overnight.

Next morning, remove spice bag and pack in sterilized pint jars. Fill with syrup. Seal. Process in water bath 20 minutes.
